Origin
The passion fruit is one of many species belonging to the passion fruit family. It originated in the subtropical to tropical regions of Africa. Today it is cultivated in South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, India, Taiwan, Hawaii and California.
Tips
After harvesting, the passion fruit shrinks. However, this is not a sign of spoilage, but a sign of ripening. Passion fruits can usually be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks after purchase.

Preparation
They are well suited for fresh consumption (cut the fruit in half and spoon it out), fruit salads, ice cream, desserts and mixed drinks. Due to their excellent intense aroma, passion fruits can be used to enhance the flavour of almost all fruit juices and cocktails.
For a refreshing juice, the pulp of 1 passion fruit is put into a blender with 300ml of water. Mixed briefly, the pulp dissolves from the seeds. The juice is then sieved to finally separate the seeds from the aromatic yellow/orange juice. Put the juice back into the blender and season with a tablespoon of sugar.
