1. WHAT IS AZARON AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Azaron is a stick for application to the skin, which is used for itching after insect bites. For the relief or symptomatic elimination of itching after insect bites or stings and after contact with jellyfish or stinging nettles.

2. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE USING AZARON?

Azaron must not be used:
  • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to tripelennamine hydrochloride, other anti-allergic substances or any of the other ingredients of Azaron.
  • in the case of inflammation at the itchy area of skin.

Special care must be taken when using Azaron

Treated areas of skin should not be exposed to the sun or artificial UV sources (e.g. solariums).

When using Azaron with other medicines

No interactions are known. Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using any medicine.

Driving and using machines

No special precautions are necessary.

Azaron contains propylene glycol

Propylene glycol can cause skin irritation.

3. HOW TO USE AZARON?

Always use Azaron exactly as described in this leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

How often should you use Azaron?
Azaron is used once a day, unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor.

How and when should you use Azaron?
Azaron is applied to the itchy area and rubbed in gently.

How long should you use Azaron?
Do not use Azaron for longer than one week. If there is no improvement in your symptoms during this time, there could be another cause for the itching. In this case, you should see a doctor. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Azaron is too strong or too weak.

If you have used more Azaron than you should

In the case of use as directed, poisoning is generally not to be expected. However, it has happened that small children have sucked on Azaron or eaten the stick in whole or in part. No adverse symptoms have been described in this case. In the case of accidental ingestion of Azaron by children, the consultation of a doctor should be considered - depending on the amount ingested.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Like all medicines, Azaron can have side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Possible side effects

Tripelennamine hydrochloride as an antipruritic active ingredient in Azaron is known to cause allergic dermatitis after application to the skin as well as a light-induced skin rash (so-called photoallergic exanthema). As a further ingredient, Azaron contains propylene glycol; it can cause allergic reactions (e.g. increased itching) in people who are particularly sensitive to this substance. In cases of such or other hypersensitivity reactions to the ingredients of Azaron, the application should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted if necessary.

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects not listed in this leaflet. 5. HOW TO STORE AZARON?

Keep out of the reach of children! Do not use the medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and the container after . The expiry date refers to the last day of the month. Do not store above 25°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze.
