Ingredients

  • 100 g mayonnaise
  • 600 g ground beef
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 40 g tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 150 g tomatoes (approx. 2 pieces)
  • 20 g finely grated onion
  • 1 red onion (approx. 40 g)
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped flat-leaf parsley
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped tarragon
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 leaves iceberg lettuce
  • a pinch of salt
  • 4 hamburger buns

Preparation

  • 1
For the spicy mayonnaise, combine all ingredients (mayonnaise, ketchup, red wine vinegar, grated onion, parsley, tarragon, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper) in a bowl and let it sit in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
  • 2
Slice the tomatoes. Peel the red onion and cut it into fine rings. Fry the bacon on the grill or in a pan until golden brown and crispy on both sides, then set aside.
  • 3
Form 4 equally sized patties from the ground beef (slightly larger than the buns). Season the patties with salt and pepper on both sides and brush with melted butter. Grill on a hot grill for approx. 3 minutes, flip, brush again with butter, and grill for another 2 minutes. Then place a slice of cheddar on each patty and let it melt for 1 minute. Let the cooked meat rest briefly.
  • 4
Slice the hamburger buns and briefly toast them on the grill with the cut side down.
  • 5
Spread 1 tbsp of the seasoned mayonnaise on each bun half. Place some iceberg lettuce and tomato slices on the bottom half. Top with the meat and melted cheese, followed by more tomato slices, the crispy bacon, and the onion rings. Cover with the top bun half.

Tip: Do not overcook the meat. It should remain slightly pink inside to ensure maximum juiciness.
