Milk chocolate with candied ginger, roasted sesame and black cumin. Sesame and black cumin sprawl here on a bed of milk chocolate instead of on a flatbread. Some drunken clown with an SO-36 T-shirt has also placed a knob of ginger on the pillow.

No plastic

The Berlin chocolate manufacturer 31° does not use plastic in its product packaging. The packaging is made of paper from sustainably managed forests, parchment and cellophane (transparent plastic film made of cellulose). Some deliveries in Berlin are made by bicycle :).

Preussisch süß attempts to transform the character of Berlin's diverse districts into tasteful chocolate portraits. Short texts on the back provide information about the selection of ingredients and the image of the respective district. Sometimes historical references are made, sometimes culinary traditions are mentioned. A wink can certainly be included. Clichés are of course used and not avoided. There is a piece of chocolate in every cliché!

Preussisch süß reminds us that Prussia fortunately not only had a militaristic tradition, but above all stood for a golden age of chocolate production and diversity in Berlin. The capital looks back on a long tradition of producing high-quality and innovative chocolate.

Preussisch süß – Berliner Stadtteilschokolade is an edition conceived by the Berlin writer and chocolate lover Tanja Dückers and launched in 2017 together with the Berlin chocolatier Christoph Wohlfarth. Tanja Dückers, born in Berlin, has lived in many districts, both in the west and in the east. In many books and essays she refers to Berlin. Now she has approached Berlin's peculiarities not with words, but with culinary delights.
