Authentic, resource-saving, seasonal - that's how Brodowin's food is, which is freshly harvested and usually delivered to your home the next day or on the same day. 
In Brodowin, everything is close together - the pasture right next to the dairy, the local butcher just 2 places further on. And in the farm shop, the organic village offers its guests and visitors a large selection of products directly "from the farm".

Working according to strict Demeter guidelines is a matter of course for us". The aim is to combine agricultural work with the special features of our unique nature. Today, the company stands on the 3 pillars *agriculture, processing and "sales" and employs over 100 people.

With 30 hectares of outdoor cultivation and a 2,000 sqm greenhouse area, Brodowin's gardening is one of the largest Demeter gardening companies in Germany. The workload in Brodowin's gardening is much higher than in conventional agriculture - a lot of manual work is necessary! Weed control is carried out using refined hoeing techniques. We also use equipment specially developed for organic farming, such as the flamethrower. By flaming, the fields are cleared of weeds before the seeds germinate.

In addition to cucumbers, tomatoes and lettuce, insects are also very welcome in the greenhouse. The bumblebee colonies living in the greenhouse help to pollinate the plants. Other insects, such as ladybugs and parasitic wasps, are deliberately introduced to keep the plants free of pests. In this way, the use of toxic pesticides can be dispensed with.
As a Demeter farm, animal husbandry is an inseparable part of organic and sustainable agriculture for the eco-village. In Brodowin, there are around 220 dairy cows and 1600 laying hens are kept in five mobile stables, along with the same number of cockerels.
