We start with the tea leaves: (Black) tea is always made from the tea plant Camellia sinensis. The tea gets its typical taste and colour through a fermentation process: After harvesting, the leaves are dried and carefully rolled. Black tea contains theine – basically the same active ingredient as caffeine. In tea, the stimulating substance is bound to other tannins and releases its stimulating effect much more gently and with a delay, but it lasts longer. Black teas have a strong, powerful taste, which also depends on factors such as weather, rainfall and nutrients in the soil. Our experienced tea tasters all over the world check the consistent taste and quality. So you can be sure that your favourite Lipton tea always tastes the way you like it.
